Vision, Mission, Four Greats

Our Vision

Our vision is ‘Glorifying God through outstanding, enjoyable education’.

Our guiding Bible passage: ‘I have come that you may have life, and have it to the full.’ (John 10:10)

Our Mission

In order to fulfil our vision, that our school community lives life abundantly, our Mission Statement will seek to:

  • Develop the whole child.

  • Promote the highest standards of academic achievement, motivation and self-discipline in all pupils.

  • Ensure high quality teaching and learning in all subjects and at all key stages.

  • Encourage each individual child to develop her or his talents to the full.

  • Ensure that everyone is treated equally and with respect.

  • Develop in pupils an awareness and appreciation of spiritual, moral, social and cultural values and attitudes.

  • Help pupils develop creative, lively and critically enquiring minds and the ability to question and discuss rationally.

  • Promote an awareness of our place in, dependency on and respect for the world environment.

  • Promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.

At Saint Cecilia’s, we want every pupil to enjoy their school experience—both in and out of the classroom—and see their time here as part of a lifelong journey of learning. Fulfilment comes from personal achievement, and we offer a wide range of opportunities to help pupils grow, both academically and beyond. Our teaching approach encourages both independent and collaborative learning, building confidence through cooperation and healthy competition. We celebrate progress while providing clear guidance for continued growth.

Our Four Greats

We are on an exciting journey, as we aspire to be a ‘Great’ school.

A school with a Great Curriculum, that is full of opportunity.
We take pride in offering a broad, challenging curriculum that nurtures every pupil’s academic strengths and inspires them to reach their full potential. When Ofsted visited in June 2023, they noted that "leaders had established a curriculum that enables pupils to do well."

A school that offers Great Learning experiences, in and beyond the classroom.
Our curriculum is brought to life through high-quality teaching that challenges and supports every pupil. We assess progress at every stage, helping pupils grow in confidence as they learn. Beyond the classroom, a wide range of free extra-curricular activities encourage pupils to explore new skills and interests. Ofsted described our teachers as “experts who can adapt teaching to meet the needs of pupils,” giving us confidence that every child can thrive here.

A school with a culture of Great Professionalism.
At Saint Cecilia’s, our dedicated and highly qualified staff bring a wealth of experience from diverse backgrounds to deliver our exceptional curriculum that is rich in opportunity. We foster a positive learning environment where pupils and students feel valued, safe, and ready to achieve their best. Ofsted highlighted that our “learning environment was calm, pupils work hard, are enthusiastic and take responsibility for their learning.’

A school that values Great Partnerships with parents and the community.
We work closely with local charities, businesses, and churches to broaden pupils’ and students’ horizons and encourage them to make meaningful contributions to society. To stretch and challenge our most able pupils, we partner with NACE – the National Association for Able Children in Education. Our brightest children thrive through a bespoke programme of talks, visits, seminars and classes. While designed for high achievers, this programme is open to any pupil with a keen interest, reflecting our commitment to inclusivity.
